Kolb MKIIIC
Well, as much as I hesitated starting a blog, I've succumbed to the pressures of our society. I've never done this before, so here goes nothing.
The picture to the left is my pride and joy... it's a Kolb MKIIIC ultralight. As you can see in the picture it's a two seater side by side that is powered by a Rotax 582 engine. For those of you that don't know, these engines were initially made for snowmobiles and later, through changes, made to work on these small planes. This particular engine is a liquid cooled two stroke that produces 65hp. They are a very good engine as long as certain maintenance procedures are followed. As a guy, and as other guys can agree to, I've decided that my 582 doesn't produce enough power. After much research and talking nicely to my wife, I've decided to go with a Rotax 912S.
The Rotax 912S is a 100hp four stroke that should propel my little Kolb along quite nicely.
